A Bit of This and A Bit of That

Uncategorized

September 16, 2010

I’m back from Austin–thank the lord! Lovely little city by the river {yes, I saw the bats fly from the Congress bridge and walked up and down 6th Street, even checking out a few of the bars}, but there’s no place like home… random thoughts for the day:

1. I despise airport food–trying to maintain my “healthy diet” is so daunting when you’re  surrounded by Cinnabon, Starbucks, and loads of unhealthy food…
2. My friend Cami jut found out she is having a boy… YAY for Baby Fields!!! Her husband Brian has 3 little sisters so I know he is smiling another man will make his debut into their wonderful family–congrats sweetie!!
3. I gave up the tanning bed and am sticking to spray tans ONLY –I know they are so much better for your skin, but I loathe them. They are sticky, you smell weird, and the color rubs off on my bedding and clothes=not cool
4. Work is really stressful right now… and it’s getting worse–deep breaths, deep breaths, but I am just exhausted everyday whenI get home–when will it get better??
5. Christmas is 99 days away–and yes, that makes me a happy girl! Look at these wonderful goodies PB just released on their website–I get to decorate a real house this Christmas–WOO HOO!!

6. I am ready to get married now–yes, I said now. I dont want to wait anymore. I want to be married to my prince charming and start our “happily ever after” already… oh poo to long engagements =(
7. I finally finished reading The Help last week–if you haven’t read this book you simply MUST! It’s a fantastic portrayal of the southern way of life in Mississippi in the 1960s and it leaves you contemplating A LOT {or it did me at least!} Now I am reading Eat.Pray.Love and am whizzing through the pages… easy and fun book and educating at the same time!
8. I am so behind on reading/commenting on all of your blogs and I am sorry… I promise to get back to business ASAP after this weekend’s festivities!!
9. My BlackBerry is getting close to dying–I have to restart it everyday and I am thinking about upgrading to something different now that my contract is getting close to expiring… any advice on what to get??? I am a Verizon girl, so no iPhone for me
10. I talked to my parents yesterday as they were finishing up their time in Mykonos {Greece} and moving to Santorini today… they are having an AMZING time and eating up everything Grecian–they’ve met some wonderful friends, drank loads of local wines, and said they are packing on the pounds and loving life… oh why aren’t Jeff and I there with them??

Happy Thursday lovelies!! Hope you have an extremely blessed day! 😉

  1. Melissa says:

I have Verizon and just upgraded to a Droid 2 from Blackberry. It is awesome and does pretty much everything the iPhone does! Yay for Verizon!

  2. i 2nd the droid comment. my friend has one and absolutely loves it. also, i am so envious of your parents. greece- that sounds like an amazing trip!! but your trip to austin sounds wonderful too. i've always wanted to visit texas.

  3. Angela says:

I 3rd the droid2. I have a droid and I can't wait to upgrade to it. it can do anything the iphone can do and more…it can make calls!

  4. I just told my blackberry it should die I have to restart mine at least 2 times daily! Just restarted it right before I read your post!

    I'd get a droid!

  5. Marian says:

I know…doesn't Christmas just sound a little more amazing now that you are a home owner:)

  6. "Sasha" says:

I got the Droid Ally (after using the bberry so long I couldn't dare part with the keyboard).

  7. Melissa says:

I cannot believe Christmas will be here in 3 months!! Wow, this year flew by!!

  8. Sarah Wyland says:

My BlackBerry is doing the exact same thing and I'm planning to upgrade to the Droid X when it's no longer back ordered. Everyone is raving about it!

  9. Brown Girl says:

I'm ready to be married as well, amen to that! And I agree with the airport food discussion because I always want to hit up Starbucks and get some pumpkin bread…yum pumpkin bread!!!

  10. CMae says:

I can't even sneak healthy food into the airport they practically strip search your items too..is it pathetic that i keep an empty water bottle on me just to get through security then to fill it on the other side from the drinking fountain so I don't have to pay 6 dollars for a bottled water? LOL

Hang in there with your long engagement! Good things always come to those who wait!

  11. Glad you had a nice time in Austin and are now back home…love your list as well!

    Liesl 🙂

  12. Yay for austin, love your post. I love posts that are all over. How awesome is Eat. Pray. Love?!! I just finished it and wrote about it on my blog. It really hit home for me. Don't worry about the long engagement relish it and find ways to enjoy it and make it special! 🙂 maybe a fun monthly wedding countdown you can celebrate somehow?
Everyone's talking about this book the help, maybe I'll pick it up…but…mississippi in the 60s? Not a good time for my people, will this book have me bawling?

PS – from the nutrition books I've read, calories consumed while traveling don't count, so don't worry about that cinnabon in the airport 🙂

  13. ABRK says:

I have a small spray tanning business! I can come to your home or you can come to me! $25 for a full body spray, lasts 5-7 days! If interested email me at bronzeddiva@gmail.com
    I love reading your blog!

  14. Amanda says:

I am not only a Verizon girl, but a Blackberry lover. I just upgraded a week ago and got the new Blackberry Curve 8530 and it's wonderful. I heard Droids are great, but could you possibly part with BBM? I knew I couldn't…

  15. Jess says:

Why did you have to post Christmas pictures? My credit card is going to get a workout on PB today…haha, thank you!!

I LOVED The Help AND Eat Pray Love…what are you reading next?

  16. Long engagements are difficult. I was engaged for 2 years and just got married this last July. But trust me it is all worth it in the end. Dont stress and take it all in…the planning and the actual day. You will be amazed at how fast it goes by. When is the big day?
I love the holidays, favorite season 🙂

  17. a H.I.T. says:

    1. I am super excited for xmas too. New house = new decorations. Booyah! (Yes, I really just said that).

    2. I still haven't read the Help. What is wrong with me?! I'm finally going to get around to reading it…
