March Showers, Pancakes, and Moola!

Uncategorized

March 1, 2011

You know the saying…”March Showers Bring April Flowers” right? Well, this March begins another kind of shower–wedding showers! Can you tell I am over the moon excited to kick-off wedding festivities? My first shower is coming up at the end of the month and I cannot wait to spend some time with my friends and family and I am so humbled at the support from so many loved ones.

This month has lots going on!! Two very important birthdays are coming up…especially for the fiance and we’re throwing the most interesting party to date–he asked for it so he’s getting it: A Grown Up Gourmet Hot Dog Party! Random, I totally agree, but it’s what the birthday boy wanted more than anything and who I am to deprive my love? 😉

Other fun items on the agenda this month include March Madness–can’t wait to get my bracket ready, Mom and Dad’s anniversary, book club meetings, wedding planning meetings {flowers, rehearsal dinner, hair run through}, Broadway’s birthday, and Jenna’s baby shower!! I know it’s going to fly by so hold on friends!

As for today, I started my day off at the YMCA with a 4-mile run…la dee dah it felt so good to hit the treadmill to tackle some frustrations and now I feel energized and ready to take on Tuesday! Not to mention that today is National Pancake Day so I may just load up on some carbs and enjoy some breakfast for dinner.
As for all things fitness, if you’re unable to venture to the gym for some fitness time, this is a GREAT workout I found via Runner’s World..easy peasy to increase your strength and only takes a few minutes!
And finally, Taylor posted a great topic at her blog today so I thought I would join in the fun this time around…we all could learn a thing or two:
The Top 2 Things I Learned About Money
1. Money Can’t Buy Happiness
If I’ve said it once, I’ll say it again…money is only an end to a means and as I mature,
I find I’d rather be poor and happy than rich and depressed–I won’t preach too
much on this, but there are far more important things than money…
friends, family, God, and health just to name a few!

2. Budget, Budget, Budget
Account for every dollar you spend and things will start adding up…if you venture to Starbucks just 3 days a week to buy a tall hot taste of yummy {approx $4}, multiple that times 52 weeks/year and you’re spending more than $600 on coffee alone–makes you think doesn’t it??  Moral of the story–invest in a nice coffeemaker and make it yourself! 😉
And I can’t help but say this–and BFF will appreciate it–but if you’re struggling with money/financial woes, visit Dave Ramsey’s website to get back on track with SO many tools and tricks–the envelope system works people!

P.S. later on this afternoon I’ll be announcing the winner of the Apothica $50 gift card so stay tuned!

The gourmet hot dog party sounds fun!! Great for warmer weather!!

As far as the money tip: money doesn't by happiness, I completely disagree. Yes, money can't technically buy happiness but I guarantee you if someone is broke they aren't happy. They may cherish the things they have but their not happy. Your idea of broke and my idea of broke may be 2 different things. My idea of broke is when you have to choose between your power bill or groceries. It's not fun and definitely not happy. It is a constant worry. I think everyone should experience being broke. It gives everyone a better perspective when they do have money. If you do have money and your depressed, then maybe they should see a counselor. I do mean this will all do respect.

NEW blogger/follower here…. Im enjoying your blog so much. I was wondering if I may ask you a question? Where do you find all your cute pictures/sayings that you use so often in your blogs??

  3. Mandy says:

National Pancake Day?? How did I not know about this? I love me some pumpkin pancakes, yum! On another note, I've heard a lot about Dave Ramsey and I think I'll have to stop by his site and check it out. Thanks for the link, I didn't know he had one!

  4. Great money tips! I have to agree with you completely on them both. 🙂

  5. Jenny DB says:

That looks like a good/quick workout. I will try it next time I can't make it to the gym, thnx 🙂
