Just a few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of testing out the newest local fitness facility and I was so honored that the ladies of The Dailey Method Nashville invited me out to attend one of their classes.
Honestly, I had heard all sorts of incredible talk about these unique barre-type classes and was excited to venture out of my normal workout comfort zone in exchange for something a tad bit different.
And this is where I’m going to be honest and say that they kicked my butt…but in a good way! I feel like I’m a pretty active/in shape person, but they had me using muscles I had never heard of, much less work out. My legs shook, my abs were feeling the burn, and I left knowing this was a great, fun experience for someone who gets stuck doing the same repetitive thing over and over and who is in need of something different. This is also a great class for anyone…it amazes me that so many people have found this method to be helpful for them in maintaining a better, and more active lifestyle! The Dailey Method is proud to have a HUGE age range of people taking their classes…from 18 all the way through mid-70’s, which is an impressive feat and showcases a no-intimidation factor when you walk in the door.
I’ve gone to a handful of classes now and can tell I am beginning to get the hang of this, slowly but surely…what I love about The Dailey Method is that they combine ballet barre work, core conditioning, stretching, and orthopedic exercises so you’re working a variety of areas all throughout the body.
A Little Bit More (The Background and Details)
The Dailey Method®, founded over 13 years ago in San Francisco, effectively strengthens, tones and lengthens the entire body, and all movement is controlled and focused, effective, and safe. From day one, the staff has assured me that primary alignment is their #1 focus, and that they actively follow each set of exercises with active stretches to develop more sculpted and supple muscles (hello swimsuit season right around the corner). I can tell you in all honesty that your entire body and mind are constantly working throughout each class, and the hour goes by in a flash, thanks to helpful instructors to keep you motivated as well as awesome music.
The Women Behind it All
The studio is owned and operated by Kimberly Rose and Sophia M. Clanton, who I have had the pleasure of getting to know pretty well these past few weeks. Kim first discovered The Dailey Method in Chicago as a client in 2010, and quickly developed a passion for the method and readily became an ambassador of this amazing workout in her community. Before moving to Nashville, Kim had been a part of the Dailey Method team in Chicago. Since 2011, Kim has survived both breast cancer and a shattered ankle, and she offers specific insight into how the Dailey Method can be an avenue to quicker recovery, both physically and mentally. She brings this insight to the Nashville studio, encouraging clients to rise above limitations and work to their fullest potentials. Kim is responsible for day to day operations, customer service and above all, client satisfaction. More than anything, Kim and I sat down and she shared her story with me and it’s amazing to see how far she has come…she is paying it forward and living her best life and she is ecstatic with where she is, thanks in part to The Dailey Method…such an inspiration!!
Sophia grew up in Alabama with 20 years of classical dance experience. While living in Malibu, California, she deepened her passion for natural health and fitness. Sophia is a certified instructor in The Dailey Method, SPX/Lagree Pilates, a 200-HR Yoga Instructor with YogaWorks, Schwinn cycling certified, Athletic Step certified, and an ACE certified Personal Trainer (intimidating, huh?). Sophia has trained numerous celebrities, models, and former pro athletes while working in Los Angeles. Of all of her certifications and years teaching, she believes The Dailey Method is the best low impact, high results driven workout. Now that she is back in the South, Sophia is excited to be part of bringing The Dailey Method to Nashville! Sophia has a loyal following, having developed a stellar reputation with her clients by teaching at various studios and private instruction throughout Nashville. Sophia is the studio’s Master Trainer and lead instructor. (and she will kick your butt in every class, but she is just so sweet that you can’t get mad at her)
These women have a true passion for inspiring others through fitness, and they are very excited to be introducing The Dailey Method to the local Nashville community.
The Nashville facility features a large light-filled studio room, full-service locker room, parking in an adjacent garage, and a great selection of fitness apparel (and socks for class, too). They help people achieve the longer, leaner and more fit bodies they seek – in a caring, encouraging and non-competitive atmosphere. And on another note, I can’t help but smile every time I walk in, as they know EVERYONE by name and it makes you want to go because you feel like they care about helping you reach your fitness goals., not to mention the small talk always goes a long way in my book.
You know I am always wanting to give positive feedback when I find something I really enjoy and this has been nothing short of amazing. So, for all you local ladies…The Dailey Method Nashville has generously offered to give away a fantastic “Girls Night Out” package for one lucky lady and up to 22 of her closest friends/family/colleagues/etc. This amazing giveaway involves a free class for you and your participants, as well as wine and apps too…doesn’t this sound like fun???
